Beijing wants ‘silence’ from Australia as it ‘goes about its business’

Strategic Analysis Australia’s Michael Shoebridge says the “price” of the meeting between Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Chinese President Xi Jinping is “silence from our government” as Beijing “goes about its business”.

“That’s true whether it’s influence in South-East Asia or in the Solomons with Mr Sogavare as the big opportunity,” Mr Shoebridge told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.

“I think that’s something the government has to be really weary about and not pay the price of silence.”

He added Australia has changed the “global view” of China by speaking up “calmly and firmly”.
