LANCASTER — The RFK Community Alliance has been awarded the Allison Keller Education Technology grant from the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism.
The grant, worth $4,115, was awarded to the RFKCA for its work at the Doctor Franklin Perkins School, which serves students diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and other special education requirements. The funds will be used to provide state-of-the-art classroom technology and enrich the learning experience of approximately 70 students diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, according to a press release.
RFKCA Chief Academic Officer Cindy Wing emphasized the importance of an up-to-date classroom in their work at the Doctor Franklin Perkins School and shared her excitement on receiving the grant.
“We are thrilled to receive this grant, which will support our middle school students with ASD,” Wing said. “In a world driven by technology, it is important that we have the proper technology tools for our students and educators to access, which will complement their learning here at DFPS.”
Later, Nick Savarese, executive director of the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism, shared his appreciation for the RFK Community Alliance and its work at the Doctor Franklin Perkins School.
“The Flutie Foundation Allison Keller Education Technology Grants help our partner agencies address a variety of significant needs in the autism community,” Savarese said. “Programs like these are helping people on the autism spectrum live life to the fullest and we are proud to support their efforts.”
