Today, in an increasingly connected world marked by digital transformation with rapid evolution in people’s behaviors, change is moving at the speed of the internet!

This is especially true for Saudi Arabia, particularly when it comes to its relationship with technology and digital devices, such as smartphones.

In a relatively short space of time, the Kingdom has become one of the most sophisticated smartphone markets in the world. It is now home to a thriving community of tech-savvy customers who demand the very best mobile products and services.

Accustomed to high-quality offerings and leading-edge innovations, Saudi consumers — more so than ever — expect their smartphones to be wholly responsive and distinguished by a suite of functions, capable of catering to their everyday needs, be it at home or in the office.

In order to meet the demands of local customers, companies and brands are placing even more emphasis on the importance of understanding and matching modern Saudi preferences, prompting questions such as, “How do consumers decide which smartphone to buy?” and “What do customers want from their smartphones?”

While research indicates that trends, fashion, and efficiency are determining factors in smart phones selection, customers across Saudi Arabia are also influenced by affordability.

The competitiveness of the Saudi market —  with customers given multiple options to choose from — serves an opportunity for innovation and creativity.

This pertains, more than any other group, to young Saudis — the largest category in the Kingdom — a demographic characterized by its enthusiasm for smartphones that offer access to modern technology, quality cameras and seamless communication at reasonable prices.

The consumer market in Saudi Arabia continuously seeks the added benefits of the products they purchase as they still look for value to their money, and take a discerning approach to shopping for reasonably-priced phones. This is demonstrated by how connected the country is, with the Kingdom having one of the highest internet penetration rates in the world.

Having said that, Saudi customers typically own more than one smartphone — with advanced specifications and distinctive features, at affordable prices — justifying the sharp rise in demand for smartphones in the Kingdom.

The competitiveness of the Saudi market —  with customers given multiple options to choose from — serves an opportunity for innovation and creativity.

Therefore, it is decidedly important for companies operating in this industry, to not only gain as much insight into the markets they serve, but also take meaningful steps to pioneer and deliver products that customers really want.
